Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our education team across various UK locations. This role offers the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities beyond traditional teaching assistant duties.
As an HLTA, you'll plan and deliver lessons under teacher supervision, assess student progress, provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, and take on cover supervision responsibilities. You'll work closely with qualified teachers to ensure high-quality education delivery and positive student outcomes.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to develop their career in education, potentially working towards qualified teacher status, or who enjoys the variety and responsibility that comes with the HLTA role.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons under teacher direction
- Assess and monitor student progress
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups
- Cover classes during teacher absence
- Maintain accurate records of student work and behavior
- Contribute to curriculum planning and development
- Support students with additional learning needs
- Communicate with parents and carers as required
Requirements
- HLTA qualification or equivalent Level 4 qualification
- DBS clearance
- Significant experience working in educational settings
- Strong subject knowledge across curriculum areas
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively
- Confidence in planning and delivering lessons
- Commitment to student achievement and wellbeing
